The author blithely ordering fish lakeside in Kenya, then being surprised and upset that it might be sourced from China says more about her, then about the problems of the global food system. This fish "probably" wasn't grown in an environmentally sustainable way * swallows* and we can't ignore this!
I've grown very cynical and tired of any analysis that doesn't start from the lived experience of people in the food system - deeper in the food system than University of London. The farmers, truckers, cooks, moms and waiters. Lecturing the world on how unsustainable it is - while enjoying all the privileges at the apex of this system - just doesn't work anymore.
